I learnt to play cornet because my dad played in the local band. He grew up in a 'banding' family - his two brothers and one sister all learnt, plus their father was the drummer.
I started with Bude Band when I was about 9 years old, playing for their Junior Band and Senior Band.
After a break in playing and a move to Devon, I joined the Exeter Railway Band in 1991. Shortly after, I 'helped out' Crediton Band and I'm still a member with them today.
I moved to flugel horn following the departure of the previous player about 15 years ago.
